The Taraju Coastal Festival is being held today, December 7, 2024, at Matahari Bluto Beach, Sumenep. This lively event also marks the launch of the 'Putri Laut' photo spot installation, a design created by students of the Visual Communication Design (DKV) Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Wiraraja (Unija).
The 'Putri Laut' photo spot, the main attraction at this festival, is a creative work produced by DKV FISIP Unija students. This installation depicts the beauty of the sea princess mythology, inspired by the local wisdom of Sumenep. It not only symbolizes the beauty of nature but also emphasizes the importance of preserving the ocean from damage and environmental pollution.
The launch of this installation is the result of a synergistic collaboration between Husky-Cnooc Madura Limited (HCML) and the Sumenep Art Council (DKS). This collaboration aims to promote local tourism while providing a space for students' creativity to contribute to the development of the creative industry in Sumenep.
The event was also filled with various exciting activities, such as music performances, art exhibitions, and a local culinary bazaar, which further enlivened the atmosphere. Visitors were eager to capture moments at the 'Putri Laut' photo spot, which has now become one of the new icons for Matahari Bluto Beach tourism.
The festival also received a warm welcome from the local community and various parties who supported the smooth running of the event. In the future, it is hoped that the collaboration between the education sector, local government, and the community will continue to enrich and advance the tourism and creativity potential in Sumenep.
