The Faculty of Economics and Business at Wiraraja University Signs MoU with 34 SMEs in Sumenep.

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Wiraraja University has officially established a partnership with 34 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in Sumenep Regency. This collaboration is formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that encompasses the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program and the execution of fieldwork practices in various forms, such as internships, research, and community service.

The signing of the MoU, which took place in December 2024, aims to strengthen the collaboration between higher education institutions and the UMKM sector, providing tangible benefits for both parties. Through this partnership, FEB students at Wiraraja University will gain hands-on experience in the field, while UMKM in Sumenep will receive guidance to develop their businesses.

In his remarks, the Dean of FEB at Wiraraja University emphasized the importance of synergy between higher education and UMKM to create competent human resources while supporting local economic growth.

The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program offers great opportunities for students to learn from the real world. This collaboration not only helps students develop their skills but also provides direct contributions to UMKM in Sumenep, he stated.

Through this program, students will be involved in various activities, such as:

  1. Internships to assist UMKM operations, particularly in management and marketing.
  2. Research to find innovative solutions for product development and business strategies for UMKM.
  3. Community service to enhance the capacity of UMKM human resources through training and mentoring.

Representatives from the UMKM present welcomed this collaboration positively. They expressed hope that this synergy could help improve the competitiveness of their products, especially in the digital era and global market.

This partnership demonstrates FEB Wiraraja University's commitment to supporting government programs and producing graduates who are ready to compete in the job market. Additionally, this collaboration is expected to encourage the growth of UMKM as the backbone of the local economy.
