Encourage Student Participation in the 2024 Simultaneous Elections

A total of 100 students from Wiraraja University (Unija) enthusiastically participated in the "Bawaslu Goes to Campus" event held at Graha Sumekar Unija. This event is part of the program by the East Java Provincial Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) with the theme "The Strategic Role of Students in Safeguarding the 2024 Simultaneous Election Process." The event featured the main speaker: Dr. Wilda Rasaili, S.Ip., M.A., a lecturer at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Unija.

In his opening speech, the Rector of Wiraraja University expressed appreciation for the trust of East Java Bawaslu in choosing their campus as the location for this program. "We are committed to maintaining political neutrality, although each individual has the right to their own choice. We also encourage students to be smart voters and active, critical observers of the election process," said the Rector.

The Rector also hoped that this event could serve as a discussion forum for students to share insights and develop concrete steps to uphold election integrity.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of East Java Bawaslu, A. Warits, S.Sos., emphasized the importance of this socialization in introducing the concept of participatory supervision to students. "We want to raise awareness and increase student engagement in the regional elections, especially in East Java. My hope is that students can become more active and involved, because you play a vital role in maintaining the quality of the elections," he said.

The event was warmly received by students who not only listened to the presentations but also took part in interactive discussions, strengthening their commitment to contributing to the transparency and fairness of the 2024 election process.
